Editorial Policy

Global Report is committed to delivering news that is accurate, fair, and independent. This editorial policy outlines the standards every piece of content published on this site must meet — from the first draft to the final correction.

Readers deserve to know how decisions are made. These editorial guidelines exist to hold this publication accountable.

Global Report covers news across technology, business, politics, lifestyle, entertainment, and global affairs. The goal is straightforward: inform readers with verified, balanced, and timely reporting.

Every editorial decision — what to cover, how to frame a story, which sources to include — is guided by public interest, not traffic, sponsors, or political alignment. Stories are selected based on relevance, accuracy, and newsworthiness. Entertainment value alone is never sufficient justification for publication.

This editorial policy applies to all content types: news reports, feature articles, opinion pieces, explainers, and listicles.

2. Independence and Editorial Control

Global Report operates with full editorial independence. No advertiser, sponsor, investor, or third party has any influence over news coverage, story selection, or editorial tone.

Commercial relationships — including display advertising and sponsored content — are managed separately from the editorial team. Advertisers do not receive preferential coverage, early access to stories, or any form of editorial input.

Opinion pieces and editorials represent the views of the named author only. They do not reflect the official position of Global Report unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Independent journalism is the foundation of this site’s credibility. Any attempt to influence editorial decisions through commercial pressure is rejected outright.

3. Accuracy and Fact-Checking Policy

News accuracy is the highest editorial standard at Global Report. Every factual claim published on this site must be verifiable before publication.

The fact-checking process follows these steps:

  • Primary sourcing: Claims must be traced to an original, identifiable source — an official statement, a government document, a named expert, or a credible publication.
  • Cross-verification: Significant claims are verified against at least two independent sources before publication.
  • Named sources preferred: Anonymous sources are used only when the information is in the public interest and cannot be obtained any other way. The reason for anonymity is disclosed where possible.
  • No speculation presented as fact: Analysis and opinion are clearly labeled. Predictions, projections, and interpretations are framed as such — never as confirmed news.
  • Statistics and data: All figures, statistics, and data points must be sourced. Outdated or unverified data is not published.

If a factual error is identified after publication, the corrections policy below applies immediately.

4. Corrections Policy

Global Report takes its corrections policy seriously. Errors are corrected promptly, transparently, and without altering the historical record silently.

How corrections are handled:

  • Minor factual errors (spelling of a name, incorrect date, wrong figure): Corrected within 24 hours. A correction note is added at the bottom of the article stating what was changed and when.
  • Significant factual errors (incorrect event, misattributed quote, misleading headline): Corrected immediately upon verification. A correction notice is added at the top of the article, visible before the article body.
  • Structural errors (story requires substantial revision): The article is updated with a prominent editor’s note explaining the nature of the change and the date of revision.

Silent edits — changing content without disclosing the update to readers — are not permitted under this editorial policy. Every correction is logged and dated.

How to report an error: Readers who identify factual inaccuracies can submit a correction request via the contact page. All requests are reviewed by an editor within 48 hours.

5. Source Verification Standards

Source quality directly determines the reliability of every story. Global Report follows strict source verification standards on all content.

Acceptable primary sources include:

  • Government agencies and official press releases
  • Peer-reviewed research and academic institutions
  • Statements from named individuals in positions of authority
  • Court documents and public legal records
  • Data from established research organizations (e.g., World Bank, IMF, WHO, Pew Research)

Sources that require additional verification:

  • Social media posts, including from public figures — these must be confirmed through official channels before being reported as fact
  • Press releases from companies or advocacy organizations — these are treated as one-party claims and cross-checked where possible
  • Unnamed or anonymous sources — used only under specific editorial criteria (see Section 3)

Sources that are not used:

  • Unverified claims from forums, comment sections, or unattributed viral content
  • Content from websites with a known history of publishing misinformation
  • AI-generated content presented as original sourcing

6. Conflict of Interest Policy

Writers and editors at Global Report are required to disclose any potential conflict of interest before covering a story.

A conflict of interest exists when a journalist has a personal, financial, or professional relationship with the subject of a story that could — or could appear to — influence their reporting. This includes financial holdings, family relationships, prior employment, or active affiliations with organizations being covered.

When a conflict is identified, the journalist is reassigned. The story is handled by a writer with no connection to the subject. Disclosures are made publicly within the article where relevant.

This editorial policy also applies to opinion contributors. Guest writers must disclose affiliations, funding sources, or relationships relevant to the topic they are writing about.

7. Sponsored Content and Advertising Separation

Global Report publishes sponsored content only when it is clearly and prominently labeled. Sponsored articles, paid partnerships, and branded content carry a visible disclosure label — “Sponsored,” “Paid Partnership,” or “Advertisement” — at the top of the page.

Sponsored content is never designed to look like an editorial news article. Font, formatting, and layout distinctions are maintained to ensure readers can immediately identify commercial content.

Advertisers have zero editorial input. A company purchasing ad space on this site does not receive favorable coverage, suppression of negative news, or any other editorial benefit. The editorial team and the commercial team operate independently.

8. Complaints and Reader Feedback

Readers are encouraged to raise concerns about any content published on Global Report. Complaints related to accuracy, fairness, source attribution, or editorial standards are taken seriously.

Complaint process:

  1. Submit your complaint via the Contact page with the article URL, the specific concern, and any supporting evidence.
  2. An editor will acknowledge receipt within 48 hours.
  3. A full review will be completed within 7 business days.
  4. The outcome — whether a correction, an editor’s note, or a decision not to amend — will be communicated to the complainant.

Global Report does not engage in editorial decisions through social media comments or email pressure campaigns. All formal concerns must go through the official complaint process.

Commitment to Ethical Journalism

This editorial policy is reviewed periodically to ensure it reflects current best practices in digital journalism. Global Report is committed to building a publication readers can trust — through consistent standards, transparent corrections, and independent reporting.

Any updates to this policy will be published on this page with a revision date noted at the bottom.
